Mountbatten Hunting
I don't go hunting to freeze, but unfortunately it often doesn't stay away and is part of our everyday life. We are constantly exposed to the weather and only very few hunters have isolated booths in their hunting ground, in which it is also very difficult to perceive the changing game. Before I used the Lenz heating clothing, I used several additional layers of functional clothing or a seat bag. Both are completely unsuitable for driven hunts, where the weapon has to be aimed quickly.
In search of a practical solution, I quickly became aware of the Lenz company from Austria. I particularly liked the option of continuously controlling the socks and vest via a mobile phone app. Alternatively, you can set three heating levels directly on the battery by simply pressing a button. I use this function very rarely and usually only when the cell phone battery should be empty. The batteries are inserted into the garment and sit firmly there and are safe from loss without being in the way. The connection is made via Bluetooth and the temperature can be adjusted at any time to suit the needs. When starting the hide facility, I leave out socks and vest and then put them on a small level so as not to cool down in the first place. If I still get cold, I can turn up the temperature at any time. In autumn I wear the heated vest under a thin, unlined loden jacket or a warning-colored softshell jacket on driven hunts. Under the jacket I wear a shirt and performance wear 6.0 merino with a high proportion of merino wool. As soon as the temperatures drop into the single digits, the unlined jacket is exchanged for a warmer loden jacket. Depending on the temperature, the lithium packs rcp 1800 last six to nine hours on me.

heat vest 1.0
The breathable vest is equipped with 2 heating elements in the kidney and back area. The two batteries are connected in the front abdominal area in small pockets with snaps. The location of the connection point is well thought out and does not impede in any situation. The vest is very light and fits quite tight, which may be a bit unusual at first. Due to the close contact with the body, the heat is optimally transferred. After the hunt, the vest can be washed in the washing machine at 30°.
heat socks 5.0 toe cap
The socks have a barely noticeable heating element that completely encloses the toe area. At first I found this a bit unusual, but it makes sense since the toes cool down first. The ergonomically knitted socks are pleasantly soft and padded in exposed areas. Both batteries are connected in the foldable cuffs of the knee-high socks and don't get in the way when wearing boots because the socks are quite high. Like the vest, the socks can also be washed in the washing machine at 30°.
Conclusion:
After a test phase of over a year, I can no longer imagine hunting without heated clothing. Even in cold temperatures well below freezing, I decide when the hide is over and don't have to stop early because it's getting unbearably cold. In January, at minus 15 degrees and after a three-hour hide on an open driven hunt, I was able to kill a defector that I had seen there the previous evening. Another crucial factor for me is maintaining my health.
As a passionate drive hunt shooter, however, the heating clothing from Lenz is the greatest advantage for me on driven hunts. Thanks to the vest and socks, I can do without one or two layers of additional clothing and am much more flexible and have the weapon ready quickly when it matters.
